White Boy Will // Roguish Game

NWRAP: White Boy Will is a name synonymous with Portland Oregon hip-hop.  your work as head of street promotion for NW powerhouse label, Jus Family Records supersedes you.  How did you get involved with Jus Family?

White Boy Will: First and foremost I was and still am a fan of the music. Back in the day many years ago I went to all the shows. I was one of the first people there and the last to leave. I was always in the front row. I knew all of the songs. I was there at classic shows like Poh-Hop 1, A Jus Family Night Out, CD release party’s and The Last Days At La Luna’s.

I think it was like 1999 I reached out to an artist who at that time was working with Jus Family on his new project about doing some promo for him. He went back to Cool Nutz and asked Nutz about me. Cool Nutz told him I had been a longtime supporter and that he should work with me. I started promoting that project and upcoming shows and other Jus Family projects.

NWRAP: You broke onto the scene as a solo artist last year with your debut, Roguish Game.  Tell us about that project.

White Boy Will: I had been recording songs here and there over the years while doing promotions for other artist. I had always wanted to do my own record. I had been Executive producer on a couple other projects. One day I was like I got enough songs for a solo album. I know the business. It was now or never. I guess you could say it was my time. The album featured platinum and gold producers Jonathan “JR” Rottem, Funk Daddy and Big Ice. The album also featured production by Hi Q & Gaffel. Roguish Game features rap and R&B artist Todd G, Shaolin, Arjay, Dante Thomas and more.

NWRAP: We see you have impressive feature lists on your projects.  Tell our readers some of the folks you have worked with.

White Boy Will: For the new project I brought back artist that where on Roguish Game like Shaolin, Todd G, Arjay and Dante Thomas. But on the new one I also have songs with Spice 1, San Quinn, B-Legit, Richie Rich, Luni Coleone, C-Bo, Jay Tee and Livitti. I hope to get this project finished up and out this year.

NWRAP:  What is in your future personally and musically?

White Boy Will: Personally I am a full time father I have 2 kids. My son Nathan he is 12 and my daughter Kaylina she is 14. They take up a lot of my time. My family always comes first. As for music I’m working on this new album. I plan on getting out and doing more shows. I’m also talking to some people about doing some music videos.
